If you are looking for something to do during the evening in Ho Chi Minh City, the A O Show by Lune Productions is worth checking out. It is one of the many live shows that the Bamboo Circus puts on across Vietnam that are sure to entertain you with their acrobatics, juggling, and traditional music.
It is often billed as the Cirque du Soleil of Vietnam. While probably not to that level, it is a unique and interesting show. The show covers the contrast from rural life to the hustle of modern-day South Vietnam.
The acrobats use a selection of bamboo poles, ropes, and baskets to dramatic effect. Combine that with the lighting and music, both traditional and modern, to make a wonderful show.
In addition to the amazing acrobatics, the illusions are sure to entertain and confound. Watch them turn a giant basket into flamingos and crabs.
The A O Show takes place at the Saigon Opera House. The Opera House was built in 1898 by the French and is one of the cities iconic buildings. You can admire the architecture on the outside and then head in to get a cocktail before the show begins.
The Saigon Opera House is not open to the public for tours, however, your ticket to the A O Show allows you to tour the building and enjoy the beautiful colonial French architecture on the inside as well as out.
After the show, you can take photos with the performers and spend some time in the main entrance hall of the Opera House and socialize.
There are two shows daily at 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm. The show lasts one hour, but give yourself more time to enjoy looking around the building and hanging out after the show.
Ticket prices for adults start at about USD $25. You can buy tickets online, at most hotels, or the box office.
The A O Show has great choreography, acrobatics, optical illusions, dancing, and music. It is a great way to spend a night in Ho Chi Minh City.
