There are so many options to get a delicious bowl of Pho in Ho Chi Minh City. From small street vendors to chain restaurants, you can’t go far in the city without finding a place that serves up a hot bowl of Pho.
Pho 24 is a chain restaurant that first opened its doors in 2003. They’ve expanded from that first restaurant to now over 30 locations in Ho Chi Minh City. I found one a few doors down from the GK Central Hotel and found myself eating there quite often. Some people shy away from restaurant chains, but I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
The Pho 24 restaurants are modern, clean, and make a well-seasoned bowl of Pho. Another plus is that they are air-conditioned, at least the ones I visited were. It’s a great place to get out of the heat and enjoy a meal.
As the name suggests, Pho is their specialty. They also offer a couple of other entrees, but not much, and spring rolls. Prices are reasonable. You can expect to pay between 30,000 – 70,000 Dong for a bowl. You can also get a combo or set menu that can include drinks or sides. They are going to be more expensive but will save you a few Dong over ordering them separately.
They offer three sizes of Pho, a small, regular, and large. The regular was huge and enough food for me. They have several options for meat, I was partial to the beef brisket and the Special Beef Pho which has three types of beef.
Ordering is simple as there aren’t that many choices besides what type of meat you want and what to drink. You place your order at the counter and they hand you a card to place on your table. The food comes out fast and is delivered to your table.
The interior of the restaurant is nicely decorated with plenty of seating at small wooden tables. The place is popular with both locals and tourists. It does get busy, but I never had an issue with finding a table.
If you want to spice up your soup, they have bottles of Sriracha sauce. They are unmarked, but look and taste just like the sauce you’d find at the store back home.
I can recommend Pho 24 as a great place to get a bowl of Pho in Ho Chi Minh City. I thought the prices were fair, the food was delicious, and loved the contemporary interior. Of course, the air conditioning in the restaurant was a big benefit as well.
If you are a little reluctant to eat at street food vendors or smaller restaurants because of the cleanliness, Pho 24 looked pretty spotless and seemed to be well cleaned.
I enjoyed both the beef brisket and the Special 3 Beef Pho, but the former was my favorite. Give Pho 24 a try if you are in Ho Chi Minh City. They have many locations, check out their website below to find a location near you.
